Out of state shipping questions?

I have some questions about out of state shipping. I am a resident of Kansas and a California resident would like to buy a IAC model 97T Trench gun that i have. First question, is the shotgun legal to own in California? Second question, is it ok for an out of state individual to ship a longarm to a California FFL? I do plan on including a copy of my DL for the FFL to log. I am not familiar with the specifics of California law, any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

That's a pump shotgun so it's legal in California. An individual can ship to a CA FFL via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) or USPS; you might find the best rate with USPS. Just make sure to declare the shotgun but don't mark the packaging with the contents. I don't think you need to send your DL for the FFL to log.

take a look at my shotgun flowchart, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/sgflowchart.pdf , that breaks it all down for you.

In the end, as long as it is over 26" OAL with any folding/collapsible stocks in their shortest configuration, with an 18" barrel, you should be fine. pump shotguns can look just about as evil as you want and still be legal in CA.

And make sure you check with the receiving FFL first. Many of them have a policy of only accepting firearms shipments from other FFLs.
