CA FFL requirements to transfer pistol into CA

Good Morning, I did try to find the answer before writing!

I am speaking with a midwest FFL about purchasing and transferring a CA Roster Approved pistol into CA. He is willing to do it but heard of all of these "horror stories" about our paperwork. I would really appreciate knowing the steps he will need to do to transfer/ship the pistol to my FFL in San Diego. I will then send him the info. I thank everyone in advance for their assistance.

The only thing different is that he needs to generate the CFLC letter:

He needs the CFD number of your FFL and include the number from the letter. It is best to print a copy of the letter and include that with the shipment (I recently had a CFLC letter which used my CFD number as the number of firearms shipped, which I would not have been aware of if I only had the number).

it is free and does not take long. If the FFL has any questions or problems, let me know if he is willing to talk to me about the process.

      Thank You!

Can you imagine if CA made everyone who wanted to buy a cell phone go through all of the hoops we do in order to buy a firearm. That would be sweet--sorry, that iPhone is green and not on the roster, we only allow silver and white . . .

There is at least one lawsuit regarding this issue. I also heard that the law was copied and thrown out in court. Part of the problem is that the lawsuits take far too long. Add to that, the politicians are not held accountable when they pass bad laws, nor when they continue to follow a bad law when they know it will be thrown out in court. An example of that was the smog impact fee, which the money just went to the general fund. It was tossed in Florida and CA continued to charge the fee until the court tossed it here, then said that people could request a refund, instead of informing those that they collected the money from that they could get it back. I have to wonder how much of the money was never returned. Nothing happens to the politicians, so they never change and don't care.
