    Pre-ban rifle transfer question

I was hoping to purchase through an ffl transfer a couple of AK's. If a guy has some that were purchased pre-ban and never registered as assault weapons, can they be sold with a bullet button on them and make them legal to transfer in california?

You cant have RAW s transferd in CA even with papers so i would say no
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

Well they would have to be unlisted makes of AK varients to be able to be sold and possesed in Ca. w/out being RAW's. Then the addition of BB's or makeing them featureless would be good to go.

Check them against the Ban list and go from there.

Depends on the name and model of those AK's "Never registered" can mean two things: Already an illegal AW, or yes, could be made legal with a bullet button or configured as "featureless."

Thanks. I will check them against the ban list. I believe they were purchased from Turners in early 2000's. Since they were legally purchased here, would that tell me that they would be ok? I believe he said they were Bulgarian.

If they were purchased after 2000 odds are they are off list and all ready Ca. compliant, especially if bought from Turners. Remember pump action varients like the PAR dont need BB as they are not semi-auto.

You might want to also make sure they are AK's or SKS pattern rifles.
