First Time Private Party Transfer DROS Question

    Hi all,
I'm planning on doing a face-to-face private party transfer with a fellow calgunner, and I'm wondering what the protocols are beyond the actual DROS form and fee. Specifically, how is the transaction/payment generally made? For example, does the seller walk away with my cash or the does the FFL hold the money in escrow until the waiting period and release of the firearm? Is a private party contract in order? Cashier's check?

    Thanks!

Payment for the firearm are between the seller and buyer, the FFL has nothing to do with that aspect. You give the seller the cash and he walks with it. If your dros is denyed, its a civil matter between you and the seller, the FFL has to give the firearm back to the seller. So, be sure you can pass a dros to avoid hassle. The only money the ffl is involved with is the $35 fee you pay him for doing the transfer.
