Under the California laws a private party selling handguns is limited to having "less than 6 transactions" per year (on the selling side...not buying). I have come to understand that a "transaction" can be more than one handgun sold to a single private party at the same time at the same ffl."...example: I sold 5 handguns to a man in the area and they were all transfered at the same time at the same FFL and that constituted "one transaction" and not 5. If I had sold the same man the same 5 guns at different times it would have been considered 5 transactions and therefore my yearly allowable selling "limit"...being "under 6 transactions" would have been met.
Now for the question: If I consign (not sell) 5 firearms to an FFL...all at the same time to the same FFL (knowing he may sell them to different people) does the consignment of 5 guns constitute "one transaction" or 5 transactions?
Please ..... if you know for sure let me know...it you are guessing or "thinking it might be one way or the other" .... I really need to know for sure....if no one has a for sure answer please advise where I can get the straight scoop...many thanks
