    SOT/AOW Manufacture

I am interested in acquiring Federal Class III/SOT permission for my type 07 FFL. I want to use it to make/buy AOWs - SBSG, SBR and Silencers.

OC Armory is an example of what I would like to do.

For an example I will use the Taurus Judge. When the Judge has been properly modified (forward grip attached) it becomes a AOW and is legal for the customer to own within a TRUST.

As a type 07 dealer with a SOT would I be able to purchase the Taurus Judge and other SBSG, SBR etc.. modify them to meet the AOW requirements and then sell them?

First off - You need a 02SOT. This is a manufacturing SOT.
If you are in CA, you will still not be able to import a Judge unless it is already an AOW. You will have to transfer it from an out of state SOT already as an AOW.
You could however get a shotgun such as a 500 or 870 that has NEVER had a shoulder stock attached and convert it to an AOW.

You still need CA SBR and SBS permits to touch them.

Mike, I assume you are saying that you need an SBS permit for importation of an assembled Judge. This is not necessary for the 500/870 AOW creation.

I had discussed the Judge scenario with another 07/SOT and he was under the impression that he could import the Judge in a disassembled state and create the AOW without a SBS permit. I think that this is a gray area since it might tread in Cali constructive possession territory. The question is whether an 07/SOT by virtue of their Federal licensing has some leeway in California in this situation.

Yes I meant that with an 07/02 you can make 870 or 500 based AOW assuming they never had a stock attached.
You still can not import into CA a Judge and make it an AOW. It would have to be transferred into the state already as an AOW from an out of state SOT.
