    Type 07 Manufacturer/Dealer

    Questions,

Can type 07 dealers accept standard "black rifles" without a fixed magazine and install a bullet button once they arrive to make them California legal, or do they have to come in pre-modified? For example, the MKA 1919 shotgun or any of the ARs or AKs?

Also, can a type 07 dealer accept off roster handguns and convert them to single shot when they arrive or do they have to come into the State pre-coverted? For example, the Keltec PLR 16?

In addition to comments, please list the law for reference.

An 07 can do a SSE on a handgun but to receive a standard assault weapon they need a CA DOJ dangerous weapons permit.

So, with the California DWP I would also need the Federal NFA tax stamp right? Or could I just get by with the DWP?

you only need a tax stamp or SOT if the firearm is an NFA firearm.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Ok, so a SOT would be for SBR, SBSG, Machine guns etc..., not Assault Rifles because the Feds do not consider ARs to be NFA items right?

Does anyone know or have a good connection for SSE conversion kits for various handguns? I would imagine that for a simple conversion it would take a magazine block as long as all other features meet the off roster qualifications? For example, a Keltec PLR16, block the mag and the rest should be good to go.

Would installing a monsterman grip or a bullet button be considered a "drop in" or manufacture?

It's a simple modification that most 01 dealers can perform.

I have plenty of AR's that are NFA items.

You are better off buying the kits and building them yourself instead of giving the state more money for permits!!
