Proof of Residency For Handgun Purchase

So I'm an awkward situation and I was wondering if I could get some advice on how I should proceed. I'm getting ready to buy a handgun and I know that I need to show proof of residency. However, here is the problem. I'm a college student who just moved so the address on my DL doesn't match the address on my new lease (and I don't have a copy of my old lease, its up in Chico and I'm down in San Diego). I also don't have a car so I can't use vehicle registration as my 2nd form of proof of residency. So here's what I have available to work with.

-Driver's license (has my old apartment address on it, lease expires in August)
-Passport (has my parent's address on it)
-Cable bill (for my old apartment, matches my driver's license address)
-Pay stub (has my parent's address on it)

I might be able to get my old lease (or at least a copy of it) mailed down along with the month's comcast bill. Would that along with my DL work for establishing residency? Is there another option? (like using my pay stub+passport and a printout from the DMV)

This residency stuff is such BS...

Your old residence does not matter as you no longer live there, so if you were to put that then you would be putting false information on the 4473.

You need a government document which has your current residence on it and which also expires. A fire permit, wood cutting permit, etc. would work. It needs to be a government document due to the Feds.

03 FFL or guard card. Or if your renting get a copy of the rental agreement.

So even if I'm rabbiting back and forth (I haven't moved out yet, I'm going back up there during the summer for a bit to visit friends and move my stuff out) and just visiting down here in SD for the summer...I can't use it for my proof of residence? I guess I'm being a bit premature when I say its my "old" residence, rather its my "soon to be" former residence. What exactly defines residence?

If you still have stuff there, are still paying the rent, and still live there, then it could be considered your residence, but you need to be careful that you are not just claiming it to be your residence so that you can buy a firearm.

Your residence is where you live. I am not sure if there is a specific definition of it, but in part it is where you make your "home". You can have more than one residence.

Yeah, I'm still paying rent, I still have the majority of my stuff there (bed, desk, buncha clothes, a bike, ect), I'm paying for the internet and the lease isn't up. I guess if I can have more than one residence...this is the one that's easiest to prove.

Thanks, that was actually surprisingly helpful for a California government document...

The funny thing is that they don't accept a CA DL/ID for proof of residency. I asked the DOJ about that and was told that it was because there are some people who live in NV, but work in CA and need a CA DL, so the address is the NV address. For some strange reason that CA DOJ does not get that such a license would prove NV residency, but instead think that it would imply CA residency, so that they refuse to accept it.

Quick question, I dont want to start a new thread so I will try asking here.

Can I use my CCW permit as a second form of ID? So it would be my drivers license plus my permit.

Yes as long as it is current and has your current address on it.
