If you are both CA residents and you have your FSC (or CCW) and the guns are legal to own in California (don't have to be on roster, but no threaded barrels unless fixed-mag,...) that should do it. Can you do 30+ guns on one form? I have a few I'd like to transfer to my son.

Also, does he need the FSC if he has a hunting license?

Yes, fill out as many as you want, sent it in one packet it is only $19. Each form only has space for 2 firearms. Transferring 40 guns? Send in 20 forms.
