Will FFL Release Off-Roster Slide/Barrel Only?

    Would appreciate collective wisdom here.

I am not roster exempt. I want to get a slide milled for an RDS on an off-roster pistol (Walther PPS M1) I own but keep the factory slide intact incase I want to sell or trade it later. After unsuccessfully trying to source a replacement slide, it seems easier and cheaper to purchase another entire pistol online and have it shipped to an FFL (plus it would give me extra barrel, spring, and mags as well).

Would there a problem with an FFL keeping/destroying the frame and releasing to me ONLY the slide, barrel, spring, mags, and backstraps?

No just make sure you discuss that with the dealer ahead of time and understand what they would charge to allow you to do that.

I like this idea. A lot of folks are queasy about shipping anything direct to CA, but this might be the ticket.

I would be willing to do this as a dealer. It would not be a big deal at all, but I am going to make money on the deal.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.
