How to register a gun with CADOJ?

In a weird situation. I picked up this gun after DROS over 2 years ago.

Used this gun for my CCW permit and now i tried to renew my permit but LE Department is stating that my gun is not registered to the state? how is that possible?

At any rate - I believe I need to use the Automated Firearms System (AFS) Personal Information Update Application correct?

I emailed the DOJ twice since Wednesday and no response. Can anyone please help me?

I'd start with the simple things 1st. Verify the serial number on the gun, vs what is on the application, vs what they input. If it was ok on the initial app it should be ok now. Check your DROS paperwork, does the serial number on the gun match the paperwork. If those all check out I'd do a pawn redemption. DOJ never responds. A pawn redemption would get things straightened out but will screw up your renewal time line.

If the serial # is wrong on the DROS vs what's on gun original FFL can do a correction too.

The Automated Firearms System Personal Information Update is only used to update your personal information for ammo transfers and does not update a firearm's AFS record.
Automated Firearms System Personal Information Update | State of California - Department of Justice - Office of the Attorney General
If the firearm's info you provide on the AFS Personal Information Update does not exactly match the firearm's AFS record, then the update will get rejected because the firearm you entered is not in AFS.

The original CA FFL dealer that did the transfer to you, maybe able to submit a DROS correction that may correct any inaccuracies in the original DROS submission.

A pawn-return maybe the fastest method of "updating/correcting" a firearm's AFS record or get your unregistered firearm registered to you.
^This could take 2-3 weeks for the pawn and then returning the pawn loan with transfer back (DROS/10 day wait).

Submission of a completed Firearm Ownership Report is the voluntary method of adding a firearm into AFS that had no previous AFS record.
^This may take 4-88 weeks after CA DOJ cashes in the payment for the report.

Although of dubious legality, if someone took this handgun and walked into an FFL with you and they said they wanted to PPT it to you, ten days later, it would be correctly in your name. As long as no one said anything to the transferring FFL, no one would ever know the wiser. The CA DOJ certainly does not give a damn and would love to have your $37.19.

However, it might be even easier if the FFL you bought it from was still in business and you could check the records with them.
