    FFL 03 and CoE Update

Has there been any new developments pertaining the exemption from the 1 in 30 rule. I just submitted my paperwork for both and the CADOJ called me for clarification of my paperwork. She actually called three days after I mailed it. Anyways I have heard we are exempt and I have heard some shops don't even want to deal with it.

As I understand it, the CA Director of Industry Operations is aware of it and knows that the exemption is valid, but some DOJ people still don't know. Yes, according to my reading of the law, you are exempt (some people, including the CA DOJ people have a strange reading of the laws though).

It is also true that some shops don't want to deal with it.

Thanks, I have heard that there is even an option on the DROS website that says "1 in 30 rule exemption" or something to that effect.

Yes, the FFL needs to select the 1 in 30 exemption for the DROS.

You can submit both applications at the same time for the C&R FFL and COE, or wait until you get the C&R FFL (sometimes it can take some time). It all depend on whether time or money is more important (paying for the COE before you have the C&R FFL is a waste of money, but not much).

I submitted both of mine at the same time. What's an average ETA for receiving our license and certificate?
