    Seperate DOJ notification

If or when I sell a gun through PPT or back to Gun Dealer, is there any other paperwork required to notify DOJ I no longer own the gun or is the transfer paperwork all that is necessary??

    Thanks in advance . . .

PPT takes care of itself. Selling to a dealer requires FDAS or this

I would get a bill of sale and a DROS # at the time of PPT. Even a copy of the DROS if everyone is agreable.
If you do the PPT in my store I give the seller a copy.

I do this becasue of a phone call I got one day.
I sold this Charles Daly 1911 to a young guy who lived in Berekely.
He ended up getting this pistol confiscated by a sheiffs deputy up north.
The Sheriffs office calls me up and says "we have your pistol."

I'm a little confused so I ask "what pistol"?
Turns out there was no state record of the transaction in the electronic data base the sheriff accessed.
I had to dig up proof of the transaction for this guy so he could claim his pistol.

CA records are not as good as you would hope.
