    The Judge

    Just passing on a story:

One of my customers told me a story today about his neighbor, the neighbor knowing my customer is a gun guy tells him "check out my new gun" and he shows him a Taurus Judge 45LC 410. He says where and how did you get that! he tells him at Second Amendment Sports in Bakersfield.

Then my customer tells him you can't have those here, they are illegal! sure enough a couple of days later he gets a call from DOJ telling him he must return the weapon to the store, so he does according to him he drove back to Bakersfield from Visalia and they charged him a restocking fee and kept the DROS fees too.

I think if I had made a massive mistake like that and some how got passed the DROS and the DOJ people, I would have paid his gas to bring it back and then give him a full refund or store credit.

NOTE: I know 2ND AS sells to LE Agencies, so it's probably not uncommon to have these types of weapons (CIII) in the store for sales to Departments for official use.

Also, how vigilante are the CA DOJ people for this to happen???
Probably his background check got cleared in 10 min. or less, the weapon cleared by mistake then for 10 days nothing else is done.

How did they DROS this to begin with? Not on the Roster, not a single shot & the buyer is not a LEO? The DOJ called the customer, I would have guessed the DOJ would have been talking to the Dealer, if not yet, bet they will be! How well do you know your customer, sounds a little funny to me.

Well there are a few judges in CA....

For one lets get away from the word illegal when it comes to off roster handguns...

Now the actual legality of the Judge for short barreled shotgun is still up for discussion if you want my .02 cents...

It's a pistol and does have rifling in barrel....

I do agree that the shop made a error and should have at least given him store credit.....

        @ 191145ACP
We're both recently retired Peace Officers I've known him for over 20 + years, he was the Armory Officer for 10 years, he couldn't believe what he was looking at when he saw that thing, at first he thought maybe he brought it in from out of sate, but when he was told he had just got it in Bakersfield!!! and knowing he wasn't LEO, at all.

I've been an FFL for over ten years, if I had a nickel for each time someone wanted one.... The guy is a young kid and didn't want any trouble, so he hightailed it to the store my friend said he would have made them come and get it! It wasn't the kid's fault.
But then, when DOJ calls, you listen! Plus he told him your in possession of it and a potential felony!

Your right, it's not on the roster, but if you run it as non-roster peace officer or Private Party Transfer you can write it in. But they are Class III and Assault Weapon dealer and I have no idea how those things are run, but still, how did it happen he is not LEO????

And that's one reason I no longer live in California. When it comes to letting crooks go, the bureaucrats say no problem, but law-abiding citizens, oh, that's different. Let's beat up on them!

To be a true Liberal, you must be 100% pro-Second Amendment. Anything less is inconsistent with liberalism.

Was 2nd Amendment selling it or was it a transfer?

I might call them and ask about this story or point them to this thread. Sounds like a whole lot of possible misinformation going on.
