New High Capacity Magazine Permit Holder Questions

Howdy Gents

The FFL I work for recently got our high cap permit thru DOJ.

We got the permit to better serve our LEO customers - can't buy many of the pistols they want without it.

In general, it's clear what the permit provides regarding the buying/selling of high cap mags to LEO and out of state, but what does it allow for the permit holder?

In other words, does it allow the possession and use of high cap mags for the permit holder? Does it allow the permit holder to own pistols that are off list due to mag capacity restrictions?

Hmm. Not alot of experience here, but till we got the hi cap permit our wholesalers could not sell us any pistols that don't have 10 rd mags, and in most cases you can even see the items on the website that are hi cap.

I'm guessing that would be because the wholesaler/s are outside of CA, so you would need the permit in order to import the mags.

On the same subject...If I already own grandfathered high capacity magazines, under what reasoning could the DOJ have to deny a permit to an individual already in posession?

Unfortunately, the large cap mag permit is for FFLs only.

Why? There is no special need for those with CCW's to own regular capacity mags over non CCW's.

exactly. CCW holders are nothing different than anyone else in this state in regards to magazine capacity. nor to i agree with them not having the 10 day waiting period waved because of CCW. either for all of us not. LEO are in a different class in this state.

So if FFL with Hi Cap permit can "possess" the mags, is it illegal to use them?

There's some confusion, as any regular citizen can possess and use hi cap mags they owned before the ban, correct? (so long as you're not using them with an assault weapon)

So it seems a gray area - FFL hi cap permit holder can legally possess mags made after the ban - so can they use them with a featureless rifle or not?

Trying to school boss (FFL holder) on the featureless deal. Though he understands how to make an AR ca-legal the featureless thing is new for him.

He wants to know if he can use the hi-caps with his AR: Telescoping Stock, pistol grip, bullet button, no VTG, no bayonet lug, no flash hider.

In featureless only, items in bold is not featureless.

Why? Would it be problematic to conceal 2 Glock 17's with 33rnd mags? Lol, it would look like handlebars, I think printing would be an issue!
