    FFL Opinion KSG

I have been to the Kel Tec site a half dozen times looking at this shotgun.

I know it's two magazines, indipendent of each other.. but the 14 rounds makes me nervouse.

What do you think about this gun?

I think you should buy it if you can find it for sale

I dont want one.. I am considering selling them.
What concerns me is tha ability to hold 14 rds.

The only tube feed exemption is for rim fire, but this is two magazines and you would have to select the second magazine.

I am going to treat it as a 14 round magazine. However, I still don't think it is illegal for dealers to sell the general public 14 round magazines.

If you don't already have a distribution agreement for them... Good Luck.

I also think the 2a forum had some interesting discussions about these. I'm not going to be buying one, so I didn't really read through them all, but I think it's treated as 2 separate 7 round magazines, Just like having 2 10/30 AR mags that are clamped together. The whole assembly holds more than 10 rounds, but it's incapable of feeding more than 10 in sequence without switching over to a separate ammunition feeding device.

Is this the result of the wordings about sales "to or by" licensed individuals?

A strict logic-based reading of the law would result in any dealer who has the requisite licenses (as referenced by another section) being able to sell large capacity magazines to anybody. There is no conditions set upon the "by" portion of the exemption.

If Cali is allowing it, why not buy/sell it? If its deemed legal, its deemed legal. they are separate tube magazines, that is why its legal. If you can't handle the law, stop selling guns, others who can read the law and comprehend will take your place.

we don't know if CA is "allowing" it. CADOJ has not stated anything positive or negative about it AFAIK.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

People in Cali own it already, it has gone through DROS. I think that would imply that Cali is allowing it, and it has no reason not to, it fits the law.

Easy champ. First of all this was a thread requesting information from FFLs. I take it you are an FFL. However, you might want to get out of the FFL business since you don't seem to understand how DROS works. If you can't fathom how DROS works, then you really should stop selling guns so those of us who understand can have your customers.

When a long gun DROS is submitted, it in no way, whatsoever, submits what type of firearm is being DROSed. Not only would an FFL know this, but 95% of the rest of the Calguns forum would know this. You get an epic fail for the day.

Next, even if in your fantasy world where the DOJ knew what was being DROSed and that somehow implied legality, it is perfectly legal, 100% to DROS these to current law enforcement officers. If the KSG is a large capacity magazine, then cops can purchase it. So the DOJ still wouldn't have an opinion on if it were legal or not as they might assume the person DROSing it were a law enforcement officer or a 01 FFL DROSing from another dealer with their large capacity magazine permit.

                  Thanks for the laugh.

I am not afraid of being a little conservative.

I spose the loud guy that knows it all has been at the front of the line with Saigas or any other firearm here. I bet he is just a follower.
When NOBODY would sell Saigas I did. Because I can read.
I also got to get some stress when my client had them confiscated and was charged with assault weapons.
This makes me a little careful because I don't want my customers to get in trouble for MY decisions.

So shut up and move on.

My concern is it may come back to haunt me and my clients after a CA audit.
I believe it is two magazines but I want to know Calis opinion and they will not give it in writing.

how heavy is that thing when both mags are full?

I know the numbers are out there, but in your hands how does it feel?
