I don't think there is a specific rull of thumb for people to pick a selling price. I check the forums here for the going rate of items and go from there.

Easy rule of thumb. On modern guns whatever is the wholesale price is usually the retail for a used gun in excellent condition. No one will pay more for a used gun when they can get it for less new and they are a dealer or have a friend that's one.

Log in to GunBroker.com and see what the same gun in that condition has sold for over the last 90 days. Note - don't look at asking prices, look at selling prices, for completed auctions.

You should be offered 35-50% of that price, depending on how quickly the dealer thinks the gun will move.

Good question

There are people who ONLY are interested in used/out of production firearms.
(I am one of them).

Then there are ,"I rather just get a new one" type of folks.

I don't know what You have but pricing can be different depending on who You are talking to .

For example If I want a S&W Revolver , I wont even look at new ones.
If I want a Browning Hi Power , I ONLY want the ones Made in Belgium.
If I will start looking for another 1911, it will most likely be a nice Colt Gov't model worked over by Clark,NOvak etc. ( You can keep Nighthawks and Wilsons)

So if You have guns like that and run into someone who likes that kind of stuff You will get a MUCH better price .
