    Obtaining FFL in Los Angeles

I'm looking to obtain my FFL license in the city of Los Angeles. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've noticed there's a very limited amount of FFL's in the actual city. I'm assuming there's a heart wrenching reason for this.

    Thanks

I have heard from those who are trying to do it. It is difficult and expensive as it seems that they don't really want FFLs in the city. You would have better luck with a separate city within LA County.

Between 6-10 months of waiting while paying your mortgage/lease and you will be dealing with city politicians, if you can deal with that its a walk in the park...

Thanks. Do you happen to know the costs for all the permits?

I just obtained most of them myself and am still going through the process. These are rounded but about what you will spend

conditional use permit application fee - 9000 (not including consultant and possibly lawyer)

          coe - 150 (fingerprinting costs)

ffl - 200 (separate set of fingerprints costs add another 100)

police comission permit for business - 600 (plus renewals)

police comission permit for each person who handles firearms including EACH owner - 200ea (fingerprinting costs 100ea)

          _________

and during ALL of this you must have a suitable physical location that you are currently conducting business from, so figure the costs of rent into your budget for at least 8 months.

Damn that is crazy, doing mine in my little town. DBA $35 FFL 07 $150, factitious business name ad $20 and city permit fee $25 every quarter. The COE is $70+ plus live scan fee which I only paid 12 bucks at my local PD. My bro took my prints who is a police Sgt. so no fee. That is way to much dinero!!
