I've always considered the A/D book to be a federal requirement and, as such, I've always recorded the model name/number as that engraved on the firearm NOT the CA roster identification. Have I been doing it wrong?

The A/D book is a Federal document and it is based on the firearm, not the CA roster, so you have been doing it correctly.Kemasa.

Your book is a req of the federal gov't, so Cali stuff doesn't have anything to do with it.
