Met with the ATF today and completed my paperwork with them and should receive my FFL shortly. Now I'm waiting on my COE and according to the ATF investigator it takes about 120 days because the state is so undermanned and behind. So my COE paperwork went in on NOV 3, almost 2 months down...

Had one small issue with the city. The city laws are written with room for interpretation and one official interpenetrated it as "no". Myself and the head of Code Enforcement read it a different way. It took a few phone calls and finally the "no" became a "yes" and basically a don't F@#! it up. Works for me. The official who said "no" was the regular guy the ATF talks too and had been so for a long time. The ATF investigator and one of the city officials thought the guy who said "no" was probably anti-gun.

I'm almost there...

My city is just a big no. At least that's what the PD told me when I finally got through to the right person (or maybe it was the wrong person). I was told that it would cost about $1500 to apply and that it was pointless to do so as I would just be denied...

I have almost everything else lined up, even zoning.

That really sucks! I checked with everyone first and still got a "no", but I made sure to take the names of those who said "yes." And when I got a "no" I made sure to make some noise. The 3 yes's talked to the no and his position changed. Of course the law has room for interpretation and no direct policy against it. From their point of view I'm PAYING my fee's, paying TAXES and its mine to F@#K UP. Of course a couple of stated 2nd Amendment supporters in the mix does not hurt either.

Should have done the COE earlier. It can be applied for with the FFL pending. You will still have to wait for you CFID, and the sign up for the DROS system.

The one woman that does COE/CFID stuff is probably knee deep in CFID renewals right now, so expect it to take some time.

Six full months is what it took for me from initial FFL app to actually transacting a sale. Granted, I did have a city hiccup that took about six weeks...

Thanks! I think the waiting is the hardest part. I did all my city stuff first just in case the pulled the rug out. My FFL and COE went in the same week. Now its just a waiting game.
