FFL - Handgun w/o a clip?

I may be buying a handgun off Armslist, FFL to FFL, that has 14 rd clips.
I can find a 10rd clip somewhere else to be legal.
Will my FFL accept just the gun without the clip?

You will need a magazine for the Safe Handgun Demonstration unless you have an exemption to the HSC.

I hope those 14 rounders are coming disassembled; otherwise, you will be importing large capacity magazines into CA which is illegal. Permanently alter the magazines to 10 rounds and bring one with you to the dealer to do the demonstration.

Considering the seller sends them dis-assembled, how do you alter them to 10 round?

Make sure to tell the seller to disassemble them. If your FFL has a high-cap mag permit receiving them whole shouldn't be an issue, but giving them to you might be.
