What is the average commission rate for a firearms sales person, if any?

Yeah, kinda random. It's going to depend on the shop if at all. Many shops keep track of sales but I don't know many that officer commissions.

Anywhere from 1% to 10% would be my guess. Really depends on the shop and what you're selling. I doubt you'll make much off of a box of ammo, percentage wise anyways.

Usually none until you get into a management position from what I've seen. Even after that it really depends. At my shop no one gets commission.

            Depends in the shop.

Ive seen 1%-4% with bonuses for hitting gross sales targets.

            Mostly its just hourly though...

Which is odd, and only drives the FUD and horrible customer service in the retail gun industry. Make it so they have to work and actually sell something and you'll see a swing towards the positive side of customer service.

The problem with this is that you wind up being no different than a used car salesman and you want to make a sale on a highly profitable item vs a suitable item.

The margins in the firearm industry are very VERY slim on the retail end...

and with the paperwork/etc. delaying sales it is difficult to overcome the limitations with high volume.

honestly having comissions at all only works if you're primary buisness is not selling firearms but ancillary or associated products.
