Correcting a DROS

All, need guidance on a situation that came up when we were second checking our paperwork before filing away. One transaction was for two guns, both recorded on the 4473. However when the DROS was submitted it was for 1 gun only. Guns have been delivered to customer. How do we correct the DROS? what if any other steps do we need to take to correct this "issue".

The number of long guns on a DROS is not one of the correctable fields nor is it mandated by any law for the state to track it. Just put a single line through the number on your copy of the DROS and record the correct number next to it.

I am not sure of the current status, but in the past the DROS defaulted to 1 firearm instead of demanding an answer, which could result in the number being incorrect. I have been told that same as above to correct the DROS, as long as it is a mistake, not adding additional firearms. Just be careful since if they seen it as a common thing, they might start asking questions as to whether it was a mistake or not.

Don't worry, they won't. The state knows this number is meaningless. Even if someone reports you for adding long guns to a DROS, they won't come investigate you, they just call you on the phone and ask you to stop until you ask a bunch of questions they don't have answers to and then just tell you to talk to your lawyer.
