    AR registration question

    Hi Guys and Gals;

    My name is Dave Minoggio and I am the Chairman of the Richmond Rod and Gun Club Junior Rifle Program. I have been authorized by the Board of Directors to purchase two AR style rifles for use by our Junior High Power rifle shooters. I have already purchased the uppers from White Oak Armaments along with the buttstocks and lower receiver kits. My question is this: When I purchase the stripped lower receiver, who signs the registration documents to take legal possesion of it ??? Can I sign as a Chairman of the group that will be using it, or do I need the Richmond Rod and Gun Club President to sign???? Are there any special forms or documents which need to be filled out. The Richmond Rod and Gun Club is a "not for pofit" organization.
    Thank you in advance for your efforts in helping me to address this problem !!!
    Respectfully, Dave Minoggio

    Firearms can only be purchased by individuals in the State of California. I currently have in my possession four Glock 19 pistols bought with Friends of NRA money which technically belong to the Taft Sportsmen's Club. I simply made a document that stated,
    I, Wesley Morris, DROSed four Glock 19s (Serial Numbers # XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX) into my name on July 14, 2011.
    These four Glocks 19s belong to the Taft Sportsmen’s Club and I have no property claim to them whatsoever.
    I reserve the right to ask the Taft Sportsmen’s Club to take them out of my possession and have someone else place them into their name at any time; any fees the responsibility of the Taft Sportsmen’s Club.
    Additionally, the Taft Sportsmen’s Club can at any time for any reason ask me to turn the four Glock 19s over to one of their representatives through the Private Party Transfer process; any fees will be the responsibility of the Taft Sportsmen’s Club.
    This agreement is also acknowledged and signed by Tom Brown, Taft Sportsmen’s Club President.

    I made like four copies and we signed them all and they keep some copies and I kept some copies. It helped that I am an 01FFL with a CFD so I am 1 in 30 days exempt on handguns, but with AR15 lower receivers, you won't have to worry about that. I then DROSed all four of them and did the proper paperwork through out local FFL (Ten Percent Firearms, me). The club payed for everything and they are now kept in my gun safe.

      A CA legal Ar-15 is no different than any other standard long arm.

        Wes, is this statement really true? I thought that under the law any gun purchased as part of a trust (I'm thinking NFA trusts but, I think other trusts would be similar) is the property of the trust. If an individual purchases a NFA item, does the individual own the gun or does the trust? Which entity is really "purchasing" it? I'm confused.

          Let me change that for you as I wasn't entirely clear to the more educated in the room.

          Yes trusts, non-profits, and corporations can buy firearms, but DROS can only be performed on individuals.
