    This gonna sux...

I just put an XD40 in jail at Target Masters the other day. The pick up date that they gave me is 10/25, which is the 11th day. Which normally, i wouldnt mind at all. Here's the problem, I have to fly out to Japan 10/25. What is the chance of me calling TM and see if they would let me pickup the gun on 10/24?

Man...i thought DOJ's rule is 10days + 1minute. Perhaps, i can bring my plane ticket and reason with them.

It should depend what time you DROs'd it on the 14th. I would call them and ask them if they can release it as soon as the ten 24 hour periods is up instead of on the 11th day.

          1pm 10/24 would be more than 10days

10 days + 1 second is legal. They probably put the 11th day to prevent someone who DROSed late in the day from picking up early on the 10th day which would actually add up to 9.5 days. Let them know your problem and I am sure they will help you out. You aren't asking them to break any laws. I have also found it better to speak to people in person if at all possible.

Good luck and have fun in Japan. I have always wanted to go there.

I had the same thing happen to me and my FFL let me pick it up a minute after the 10th day. They record the time you started the DROS.

Give them a call Sundayduffer. I'm sure they can be reasonable and release your firearms for you on the 24th.

What's the difference? You aren't bringing it to Japan are you? Pick it up when you get back...

Thx for the positive comments. I will show up to TM and present my case. Hopefully they are cool with it.

No, im not bringing it to Japan.
The DROS rule is if you dont pick it up at that date...TM will hold it for another week or so, and if you dont pick it up then...you will have to Re-DROS again. and also TM will charge you Holding Fees for those days that your gun sat there. BTW, im off to Japan for 3 months.
