can 2 items be on one DROS?

I was reading some of the older posts and came across a few post that said something along the lines of people doing one DROS on two items (1 handgun and one long rifle) because there is two lines on the form. Is this true? and more importantly will it save any money doing it like this? TIA

I believe that a separate DROS is required for each handgun. But, you can DROS countless long guns on the same form.

I think once or twice. We don't do it anymore. It's just not worth the risk for $25 that you can just pass on to the consumer.

If the DOJ just come out and give clear answers on this backed up with law, then we would be fine. Of course, they never do. Go look through the FAQs, you won't find any of this in there.

My guess to the question is yes it is doable but only if the shop is willing to stick their neck out for $25 that they can pass onto the customer . So in the real world that would be NO. Sigh..

Unfortunately my guy will only dros 5 rifles at a time on long guns and of course 1 handgun at a time per 30 days. I believe the rule is as many long guns as you can afford, you can dros.

He can always attach additional sheets to the 4473. I have a second sheet I made and it has like 30 lines on it.

Stupid me thought the DROS system was about ensuring the applicant was not prohibited. I read on here a while ago that DOJ trainers sent out to FFLs had said as much. I might have used that information to add long guns to handgun sales.

it would be nice if there was a section in the regs. as to if mixing handguns and long guns is ok. guess they need more money.

If you read the CA PC, you can't include a long gun with a handgun DROS. Each firearm transaction has to be reported and if you have a hand gun and one or more long guns, then you have two transactions. While some say that the information is submitted, so it is ok, the PC says otherwise.

Quick question to be sure....I'm going to pick up a 10/22 and two lowers on Tuesday. If they have any other rifles that I want, I can have them add it to the dros, right? This will be at the Pasadena Turners in case any has tried this there.

While some FFLs will add a firearm, the CA DOJ says no. The law requires it to be part of a single sale, loan or transfer. Since you are adding it later, it is not part of the original sale and is would not be a "single" sale, loan or transfer. It should be allowed, but laws are not what they should be. Under Federal law it is allowed, but not under CA State law.
