    AR Pistol help...

So I know a LEO/peace officer...I have a Spike's Lower DROSd as a rifle. Can I sell it to him to DROS it as a Pistol? And then he sell it back to me?

    Would it compromise his career?

I'm not an LEO but this question should proably be moved to the 2A forum.

Currently under Fed Law "Once a rifle, always a rifle".
If this lower was 4473'd as a rifle at the original purchase time, than a rifle lower it is and always shall be, LE buddy involved or not.
Lowers are cheap, for less than $100 you can avoid all potential headaches.
Get a new lower registerd originally as a pistol or other if you want to build a pistol.

it is very grey it was drosed as a long arm but that does not affect its status as an "other" which can be built into a pistol rifle shotgun or remain an other firearm

it really needs to be explored further as long gun does not equal rifle

in the california law forbidding building a pistol from a rifle

i look at this as a potential scenario

you tell me the point when a law was broken

you buy a stripped lower in california
        move to nevada
build a pistol from the never assembled lower
        move back to california
        vol reg the gun

Well it's a stripped lower. Never been built for anything. Right now as it sits, it's a paperweight. So is it technically an "other"? So why can't I build it into a pistol if it's not a rifle nor a pistol just yet. I'm really scratching my head at this.

because even though it was 4473'd as an "other", it was DROSed as a "long gun", and it is not known if that "long gun" DROS designation taints the receiver or not.

At this point in time, The Right People do not feel it is worth the possible SBR issues to use a long gun DROSed receiver to make a pistol when there are other methods to acquire those types of pistols.

No. If your LE friend purchased a AR lower as a DROSed pistol and then one day sold it to you that would be ok. Or you can buy an AR pistol from one of the shops that has them.
