I ran into a issue about a 2 years ago.I had purchased a new handgun and within the 30 days had located another that I wanted. My wife and I share all of our guns.Say in a CCW type situation, the guns you have listed on the CCW are the only ones you can have concealed.Legally any gun should be used by the owner.Within family,IE-father,mother,son,daughter and wife, you can use a family members gun.Another example giving a son or daughter a gun to hunt with. The issue I had in the original sentence was my wife has a HSC and attempted to buy the second pistol when I was with her.The shop recognized me or overheard my conversation and refused to sell her the gun. They took us behind the counter and accused us of a straw buy.It was Sportsmans Warehouse and trying to understand where they were coming from. They must have had DOJ really looking at them to risk losing me as a customer by embarrassing us like that.As far as my guns, they are my wifes as well.I wonder about my legally registered assault weapons that she can not sell in Calif. If I eat it.From what I understand of the law from a friend who handles a lot of probate matters. She as my wife can sell even those,so long as sold/transfer to say out of state FFL.As to your last sentence, she will need a HSC if she wants to purchase a handgun.I am no lawyer, just trying to help you with what I have ran across. On the other hand, recently I purchased some used handguns from a shop that a wife brought in to sell. The owner of the guns/husband was sitting in jail for spouse abuse.I was contacted by LA sheriffs dept about one of the guns 3 months after the sale/transfer.FUNNY PART HERE.They wanted my authorization to destroy the gun due to it being confiscated in the mans original arrest.I was on the phone with the detective while holding the gun in my hand.I do not know for sure what happened on their part, but can assume the wife went and got the gun from them to sell or at the worst, whoever confiscated it put it back on the street for sale.

Everyone who DROSes a handgun needs an HSC or an exemption. "I am dirtracer27x's wife" is not an exception.

Just be careful as the shop might accuse you of doing a straw purchase. It is not a straw purchase. She is entitled to buy her own guns and since you are in the same household it doesn't matter anyway, but shops can be funny about straw purchase.
