    DROS question

I thought That DROS was $25? Where I live there is a gun shop charging $35. Did it go up or is he just pocketing the $10?

DROS has always been set by law at $35.

$25 goes to the State and $10 goes to the FFL for putting up with us for 20 minutes.

Believe me, nobody is making a profit doing a DROS.

The state fee is $25 ($19 DROS Fee + $5 Safety & Enforecement Fee + $1 Safety Training Fee).

The fees should be posted in plain view. Dealers are allowed to charge a MAXIMUM of $10 dealer fee for a Private-Party Transfer. They can charge whatever dealer fee they want in all other cases but they cannot mis-represent either as a state fee.

Not true. As mentioned above, the California fees are $25. If a dealer is representing $35 as DROS fees then he is breaking the law.

You are thinking of PPTs. With a PPT the maximum charge is $35 with $25 for California and $10 for the dealer. On a regular dealer sale or transfer (non-PPT) the dealer can charge any additional fees he wants, but he can not claim that they are DROS fees. He must list them as dealer fees.
