How do you know when doing a ppt the gun you're buying is in the guys name? I would hate to hand over the money and do the transfer and find out the gun is not registered or stolen a few days later.

You can make an agreement with the seller and see if the FFL will hold the money in escrow until the firearm is delivered (much like a consignment). I am doing that right now with a firearm and have done it in the past.Kemasa.

FWIW, people don't usually willingly offer up their DL and information to do a PPT if they think/know what they are selling is hot. I have been in this business a loing time and I have never had a handgun in a PPT come up hot. It just doesn't really happen....
