PPT, in state but at a distance...

    Hi, all-

Bought a used (and on-roster) gun from an FFL about 4 hours from me. Hard for me to get there for face to face (but would like to conduct as PPT to avoid 30-day wait). Is there any way to do this legally as a PPT without having to do it face to face? Or, if I drive their once, can we do the DROS, but then have him ship to my local FFL so I can pick it up nearby?

    Appreciate any thoughts!

    Thanks,
    Christina

You bought a private person's gun who just happens to have an FFL? Or a gun out of the FFL's inventory?

If you bought it from a FFL, it isn't a PPT in any way.

I think it might be consigned; the FFL told me he could do it as a PPT, so I'm leaving that part to him. My question is about whether we can ship after DROS, or even before...

        Thanks!

The short answer is no. If its a gun from HIS shop inventory he probably could, but not on consignment. To the best of my knowledge its nearly impossible to ship a PPT. I've talked with one FFL who thought they came up with a way to do it, but I certainly wouldn't want to involved in that first transaction when the auditor comes around.

Okay, thanks SLO. That's kind of hat I thought, guess I'll just have to go the standard (non-ppt) transaction route, have him ship and wait the 30 days... Thanks much!

Where ever the DROS starts, that is where it ends. You can't start a DROS ay my shop and pick it up anywhere except at my shop.
