Card reader issues.

Ok, so I got the new 1, 2, 3 track card reader. When I swipe in the buyer/ seller (F5&F6) in DROS it keeps coming up "unable to read card".

Has anyone else had these issues? Is there any software that I need to download to make it work properly? When I swipe it in word pad I get the card info but I also get a bunch of random characters too. And it doesn't always read all the info.

I have only used the card reader from the state, so I have not tried others. I assume you have tried other IDs to ensure that you don't have an ID with a problem.

If you scan the ID in notepad, you should see the information, although there is extra information. The newer ID seem to have more problems than older IDs. If you don't get the information when you swipe for notepad, you might need to contact the maker of the reader to see if there are any options which the device has.

It happens to me from time to time. Have you tried only one license or several?
Also, the random characters when swiped into wordpad is normal for me too.

I've tried two. Mine and my wife's. Both had the same issue.

Maybe it does not like you and your wife, try another one :-).

May or may not help but try checking the version box on the lower left side of the small "DROS Entry System Login" screen to ensure you have the latest version.

Card reader sucks! Who has a economical recommendation? Paying $85 for the state one just chaps me...

Do you have a USB keyboard? Most of those seem to be USB, except one, which is close to $100. Is there software which comes with it such that you can use it like the normal unit?

I am just asking because I am curious. Due to the way things worked, I ended up getting two of the card readers from the state for free, one by itself and another with a computer :-).

Yes, it was meant for you. If you did not have a USB keyboard, it might not work.

So do you just type info in by hand and make a front and back copy of the DL and attach? or do you also attach the hieroglyphics that the CR spits out in Word Pad?
