Can a CA FFL do this?

Was just wondering about a peculiar situation...

Can a California FFL order and import a semi-auto .22 cal pistol with a threaded barrel (NOT an AR pistol), IF he is shipping it back out of state to another FFL for transfer to the end customer.

    Thank you for helpful answers.

it if has a detachable magazine, then he would be in possession of an unregistered Assault Weapon. Probably not a smart idea.

If he could get the seller to disassemble it (or install a mag-lock) before shipping it to CA, that might be ok, but not probable.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Sure, as long as the Ca FFL has a Ca AW permit. If you need a FFL with an AW permit, I can probably recommend one to you.

I was under the impression that 22LR, being rimfire, didn't count as an AW? My Umarex Colt M4 has a detachable mag and threaded barrel.

Your Umarex is a rifle, not a pistol.

Is there a CA law prohibiting an FFL here from ordering such a pistol for inventory?

They would have to abide by CA handguns laws if they wanted to transfer it to a CA resident, but transferring it to an out of state FFL... wouldn't that only be governed by Federal firearm law and
any applicable laws of the state where the receiving FFL is in?

I wouldn't think CA has a say in the matter, except for the CFLC shipping verification, by the receiving FFL.

In order to recieve an assault weapon, we're required to have an AW permit. That being said, we get AW's...both pistol and rifle from time to time. When we do get them, we turn right around and ship them back to the source...if we need to (UPS/USPS has already come for the day or it's a weekend) we can log them into our bound book until we can ship them back. We can't just order an AW for kicks and giggles or even to buy and sell out of State.
