    Transfer from VA to CA

Colt Official Police revolver in 38 caliber that was made in 1967 is not on the approved list. Is it old enough to qualify even though not on list? Thanks

It needs to be 50 or more years old, in order to qualify under the C&R exemption to the approved list.

Since it's not on the approved list, it can only be imported into CA and transfered via LEO sale, out-of-state intra-familial gift or single-action revolver exemption.

If the Colt Police Positive can be modified into a single-action revolver with a greater than 3" barrel length and a greater than 7.5" overall length, then it can be transfered via the single-action revolver exemption.

it does not need to be over 50 years old to qualify, but it does have to be a C&R. Relic is over 50 years, curio is a different aspect.

Take a look at the C&R list and you will see that not all are over 50 years old. There are actually three Colt Official Police models on the list, but are specific to the serial number and engraving.

In this case, I don't think that it changes anything though.
