    No CFLC Benefit

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that one of the benefits (perhaps the only one) of the CFLC program was no longer having to send additional documentation to other dealers. In order to receive a firearm bought by a customer, a CA retailer wanted me to fax my FFL, reseller's permit, COE, CFD letter, and local business license. Isn't the state now keeping track of all that for the CFLC program?

There is no need unless you are buying something from them. The only thing they need is your FFL and your CFD number. If you really want to get crazy, send them your CFD cover sheet.

Some dealers must have too much time on their hands.

I could not find a S&W M&P 9c for my customer. My customer found one at this dealer's shop and bought it. The only way they would ship it to me was if I followed all their pissant rules. I really had no choice to obey but it just ticked me off.

        Just a thought..

A scanner and eFax is your friend. Make scans of all of your documents and permits into an archive so you can email or eFax them. It takes all of about 5 seconds. I have not touched our paper fax machine in....well...forever.

Yeah, I've got them all scanned into .pdf docs and "faxed" them from my PC, but still sucks. The FFL and CFLC/CDF number should have been more than enough.

I hear you. I have run into the same thing. I am busy trying to run a gun shop, don't make me do stupid things that are completely unnecessary.

I do have everything scanned and shrunk down to a manageable e-mail size. Anyone want a copy of my SOT?

I have not even used mine yet for anything "fun", been too busy with other stuff.

Perhaps it is because they never thought about the fact that the CA DOJ is keeping track of everything so that they don't actually need a copy, except for the reseller permit perhaps. The reseller permit would only be needed if you were buying it so that they did not have to collect sales tax. Perhaps you should point out that they are responsible for collecting the sales tax on your fee :-).

Honestly, I had not thought about the aspect that most of the permits no longer need to be sent, just doing the same thing as usual. Now I can save lots of bytes :-).

You'll only HAVE to send them if they insist and you want to get the deal done

Well, the other option is to tell the people involved to find another FFL. Been there, done that.

Yup...all the same thing. It's the number DOJ gives a dealer when they're added to the centralized list.
