    Out of state military purchase

Hope this is the right area to ask this question. I have some good friends, he is in the military and was stationed in New Mexico. Right now, he is currently in Afghan.
His wife, wants to purchase a handgun there in NM. What does she need to do to be able to purchase a handgun there?

Unless she has military ID and orders for NM, she will need to be a resident of NM, in order to legally acquire a firearm in NM.

If she is not a resident of New Mexico, she is out of luck. The dependents of military members are left out in the cold when it comes to residency. She can only buy a handgun in her State of residency.

If she is a resident of New Mexico, she should call a local gun shop and ask what she needs.
