    gun show situation

    Hello,

Upon arrival in California I'd like to begin an AR-15 build. I'm planning to go to a gun show out of state this weekend and picking up a OLL receiver and shipping it to California.

    Seems like a complicated transaction.
Can anyone provide any advice? Any paperwork I encounter, I will fill out with completely accurate information.

If you legally acquire the lower receiver in Texas, you can legally bring it to California without an FFL. You are allowed to ship firearms to yourself. This advice hinges on the fact that you are acquiring the lower legally. And also, I am not a lawyer.

supposedly an FFL looks that the buyer is legit to buy it in the home state before selling.

Lawfully purchase your lower in Texas and then either check it as a firearm when flying or mail it to yourself USPS priority mail. There is zero need to send it to a dealer in CA as you won't be able to DROS it until you have a CA ID/DL and they are going to charge you a transfer fee and DROS.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.
