    USED GUN LOCK

I used Turners to do the paper work on a used handgun sale. The gun I was selling came with a gun lock. They made the new buyer buy a new lock. The gun lock that came with the gun was the SAME lock that they made him buy. Was this right or Turners way of getting a few extra bucks?

It happens...don't let it bother you. Locks are a serious point of contention...some places will make you buy one no matter what. If you don't like it you'll have to find another transfer agent who'll accept locks that come with the firearm.

I was told by an FFL that if you don't have a receipt proving the lock was bought in the last 30 days, you must buy another. This is a CA law he explained....CA is a fuc%*g crazy State. I am so embarrassed to go to other States and say I'm from here. It wasn't this way when I was a young man...now it's just plain embarrassing .

There is no law requiring you to do that. However, it could be store policy. Simply return it after you make your purchase. Walk out of the store, put your gun in the car, walk back in and make a return and get your money back.

If they say they can't accept returned gun locks, demand to see the manager.

If they still won't budge, don't use them anymore.

Your CA approved FSD in the gun case from a used gun is just as good as your CA approved FSD in the gun case from a new gun at my store.

If the lock comes with the firearm, then a receipt is not needed. If you bring in a lock, then a receipt is need for CA, although the safe affidavit (for CA) and a lock (for Feds) is also acceptable (although the BATF attorney said that the FFL had to provide the lock, which is questionable).
