DROS verification

If one is purchasing a handgun, is there any proof that the handgun is properly DROS'd and registered to the purchaser when it is picked up after the 10 days? I guess another way to ask is, is there a law that says that the purchaser is to be provided with a certain form or copy of the Dros form that is to serve as proof of proper registration?

Law says that if you ask for a copy of the DROS form, FFL is supposed to give you one at time of sale.

You can be sure it is all 'proper' if the FFL releases the gun to you.

It is a good idea to ask for a copy if the FFL does not just give you a copy, although in the case of a PPT it is a pain because the seller's information is to be removed, so the FFL would have to scan it in and blank out the information, then print it out. The DROS system does not allow for a buyer copy to be printed out with the information removed.

That assumes a "proper" FFL, which is generally the case, but not always. Having paperwork is best, even though it could be forged. Being overly paranoid would be a problem in this case :-).
