    question about C&R and COE\DOJ

I know the C&R and COE exempts you from the 10 day wait and 1 handgun per 30 days, but is this mandated by the DOJ that the FFL comply? I've called a LOT of FFL's about having a PPT done on a C&R handgun using my C&R and COE and a lot of them flat out say NO. Is there a legal requirement for them to comply with that law?

According to the law as written a COE + 03ffl will exempt the holder from the 1/30 wait time. However enforcment by the DOJ is another question, you can call and ask them to speak with the FFL but it may or may not do any good. One post on here about 03ffls called the DOJ and confirmed that this is true but there are still ffls who charge 40/50 + for a PPT so you may be hardpressed to get an ffl to comply.

Call the DOJ and see what they can do! That's what they are there for right?
    Best of luck.

Yea a few were aware of the 1 per 30 day exemption, and a lot had no idea of the 10 day wait period exemption, I had to tell them, and they called the DOJ to verify. I always call the FFL ahead of time and double check, especially when buying a C&R handgun from a private person thats pretty far away.
