Getting an out-of-state rifle in state???

My grandfather recently passed away and my grandmother wants to give me his old hunting rifle (30-06).

She lives in Pittsburgh, Pa, and I want to get it to Santa Ana, Ca.

It is not that I want the gun out of necessity rather I want the gun as piece of memorabilia from my grandfather, the greatest man I knew. As far as I know it is a legal gun to have in Ca, it is just how would I go about getting it shipped out this way, legally???

Any information would be greatly appreciate.

Put it in a box and send it UPS to an FFL in CA. I believe T&A Armory is in Santa Ana.

Find out if T&A, or another FFL of your choice, accepts shipments from out of state individuals. It might help to explain the situation. If it is ok with them, have her send it to them (it can go mail, Ups, or Fedex) after you find out how much they charge, (some shops are gougers, $25 to $75 for the transfer plus the $25 state fee is about right). Once they get it you go in and do some paperwork, then wait ten days, sign some stuff, and take it home.
