    Prevailing Sales Tax Rate...

For you dealers that do the gun show circuit, do you collect sales tax at the rate of the gun show's location or the rate of your business address?

Filing could become very complicated if it's at the show's location.

I would use the tax rate of my business address.

If I recall correctly, one is to use the local tax rate, and when filing for BoE you put the amount of sales you did in that county and they take their cut then.

I am pretty sure it is the rate of where you are located. If you ship items in state, it is your address. If you sell them there, it is their address. Yeah, gun shows are going to be a pain in the butt.

Just go to the BOE website and search around.

The people who travel the circuit usually have the system down...I only go to one particular, somewhat local show...so everything I sell/transfer is going to be picked up at my place...my tax rate applies.

At the same time do you need to put down that you were collecting sales tax in that area since the local taxes would go to their city/county and possibly not yours?

According to the individual at BOE I discussed it with a while back, no. Division of the money is done by them...I'm just the collection stooge.
