    Secondary proof of residency

Secondary proof of residency is required for long gun. Is this a new rule or this particular FFL in Vacaville just making sh*t up? DL/ID is current and has the correct address on it.

Guns are no more responsible for killing people than the spoon is responsible for making Rosie O'Donnell fat

Alternate Documentation is required for the federal 4473 if your DL/ID does not have your current physical address on it. If your DL/ID is current and has the correct address then no other "proof" is required for long guns.

You could also just write up a rental agreement and sign it. That works just the same as well as any mail with your name and address on it.
They say you need to reach out and touch someone. Well you've been touched.

Retard is not an offensive statement if the statement about said retard is true.

I've heard of some shops requiring the secondary proof for all transactions before, but it's not legally required for long gun transactions.

This is false. First, the rental agreement is only for state requirement of secondary proof of residency for a handgun transaction. So mail with your name on it will not suffice for the state requirement of secondary proof of residency for a handgun.

Next, if it is a long gun, any mail with your name on it will also not suffice. It must be a government issued document. If it is government sent mail, then that might work.

You are not legally required to provide any secondary proof of residency, but it could be a store policy.
