Antique receiver Q

I am a 01 FFL and I have an antique rifle for sale on Gunbroker. I have a gentleman who resides in Cali who wants to know if I can ship the rifle to him directly without doing a transfer.

The particular rifle is a Finnish m27 built on a Russian 1897 receiver.

I am registered with CA DOJ.

I have no personal issues with shipping to CA. I told the gentleman I would look into and give him a response later today.

I'd be grateful for any information you would be willing share. If a thread like this already exists on Calguns please direct me to it.

if it was made before 1899, then it is exempt from most of CA's laws, including the requirement that it be transfered through a dealer.

(e) For purposes of Sections 12070, 12071, and paragraph (8) of subdivision (a), and subdivisions (b), (c), (d), and (f) of Section 12072, the term "firearm" does not include an unloaded firearm that is defined as an "antique firearm" in Section 921(a)(16) of Title 18 of the United States Code.

Thanks man! Certainly out here (SC) it is definitely an antique but I just had to be sure before committing to something I could not deliver on (wow - a pun)!
