Handgun Transfer from outside Cal. HELP

    Gentlemen,
I have a Colt Trooper .357 that is less than 50 years old and not on the approved list that I need to transfer from a Maryland Private Party to me in La Mesa, Ca. Can this be done legally through a California based FFL or not ?
I have called 2 shops in the San Diego area and get widely differing answers. Thanks for your time and expertice.
    Tom

No, it is a Gun Broker purchase from a stranger

unless it is on the roster or your are a roster-exempt person, you may not transfer an off-roster handgun through a CA FFL (with limited exemptions, which a gunbroker purchase does not fall under).

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

It might be able to be transferred if it is converted to a single action, which is exempt, with limitations such as size and has to be 5 or more rounds.

Other than that, as others have said, no. You have to be exempt or the firearm has to be exempt (such as a C&R, single shot, single action, etc.).

how long is the barrel. It would be easy to make it a single shot as long as the barrel was longer than 6"
