    CFLC shipment approval number

I've been shipping a few firearms to CA FFLs and with each one, I include a copy of the shipment authorization/approval letter. I do this because my handwriting is illegal in 40 states and makes my doctor wife's handwriting look like calligraphy. Any issues with this practice?

That is actually the preferred method. While writing the number on the label is a legit way to forward the number, an actual printout of the approval number is something I can hang on to...also I can verify you got the number for exactly what was shipped. I have gotten handguns with an approval number for a long gun in the past...and I can call the shipper and have them fax another approval for the correct type. If they get an approval for the wrong type of firearm, and write the number on the label, I would never know.

I agree, I would rather have a copy of the letter than just the number. Most places just send a copy of the letter as it is easier.

I print the letter just because it is so much easier.
