1st day went well. He will be back next week for the 4473 audit. Today he did firearms and everything was perfect. WE only had one hiccup, one of our suppressors was not on the NFA registry. Damn it if I had only known.

more likely ATF's 100% accurate registry (they testify to that in court) wasn't updated to show the Form 3 transfer to OCarmory. On the NFA forums, it is common knowledge that the NFA printout an auditor would bring to do an compliance audit is often inaccurate. Either by not listing fireams that you do have in your inventory, or still listing firearms that have already be transfered out.

Mike, it might be a good idea to keep a foldered copy of all he Form 4s for those NFA items that you have already transfered out. That way, if they think you still have a specific AOW, but you transfered it out months ago, you can quickly get the folder of Form 4s to show them that their records are wrong, not that you are missing a firearm

Oh, and you might want to let the NFATCA know about the inacurracies in the registry. IIRC, they are tracking those errors to try to get a new amnesty triggered. They almost had one triggered a couple years ago, but the presidential election went the wrong way.

I don't think my agent had any data on my NFA when she came through. I reminded her of it and she checked it, but she didn't seem to have anything on it or didn't care. One or the other. Plus my five items all in the same box that I have never transfered don't seem to be such a big deal.

We keep copies of all our form 4's with our form 3's. We had quite a few NFA items in inventory and lots of transfers so he was pretty keen on making sure everything was accounted for. In fact we had a shipment that hadn't come in yet and he freaked me out when he was asking for serial numbers I didn't have. I called the manufacturer and got it cleared up.
