    Shipping C&R Pistol

This question is for FFl's only , please .

I have a pistol that is 47 y/o but was ruled per BATFE a " Curio & Relic " Due to rarety / being not common / not likely to be shot / collectability of the Pistol .

I have several buyers out of state that are interested in the gun & as they do not live in Calif their C&R lisc should be enough to receive the gun Per BATFE C&R purchases . But I want a record of the gun leaving my possession & the state .

But what if they , after inspection , do not buy the gun ? Where is my gun in the " ship it back to Calif owner " area ?

What would be needed to get my gun shipped back to me , if needed ?

Also why is it that I have been / am being told that I CAN NOT ship the gun out of state , as it's " not on the roster " ?

I am in he LA area & if you can help me , please let me know .

    Thank you for your time

Send the gun to the person's address on their signed copy of a C&R license.

Then send in this Notice of No Longer in Possesion

If they want to return it, it will have to be DROSed back to you as far as I know. It definately has to be shipped to a dealer. Any costs from your FFL should go on the buyer who returned it.

What he said. A C&R is not just age, as was stated. Look at the first firearm on the C&R list, for example. If you have a C&R FFL, you also need to document where you sent it in your bound book.

To get it back under the above situation, it would have to be sent to a FFL and a DROS submitted. If you were to find a gunsmith in the area of the person buying it and you send it in for service/inspection, it could be sent directly back to you.

Also why is it that I have been / am being told that I CAN NOT ship the gun out of state , as it's " not on the roster " ?
Why? Because some people don't have a clue of what the law is and instead seem to make things up.

You can ship ANYTHING out of state. Also, a FFL can receive ANY handgun, even if it is not on the list, as long as it is not an a-salt weapon (unless they have the proper AW permits).
