Are there any other options, no CDL or ID available

Hi , lets start off with I am not trying to do anything illegal.
Back in December of 2010 I submitted a renewal for my CDL. As of my Birthday Feb 15th 2011. I did not receive my CDL in the mail. So I went to the Dmv, they gave me a temporary extension until 5-17-11. They informed me it could be 2+ months before I receive my actual renewed CDL.

Today my FFL informed me my new rifle came in! So I decided to take a trip to see my FFL. As I was filling out the paperwork my FFL informed me even though I have an extension for my CDL which includes my correct information and my picture. DOJ will reject my paper work to start my 10 day waiting period. Are there any other options? What if I didnt have a CDL? Can I use my current valid US Passport? Any other ideas/ suggestions?

Basically you are out of luck until your new ID arrives. Only 3 forms of ID are accepted: CA DL/ID and military ID with orders. No interim paperwork is acceptable, your ID must be current and valid as is.

December of 09? 14-15 months you waited? I had a similar deal, took 8 weeks after I got my temp.
