Handgun Purchase

I just bought a used handgun last week from a Calguns member. I'd like to buy another used handgun, but I'm of the understanding that CA law limits one handgun purchase per 30 days. However, a Calgun member told me the 30 day law only pertains to "new" handguns. I would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me.
